Privacy Policy
Labelyze does not collect personal data. All scan history, health profile data, and preferences are stored locally on your device. The only data that leaves your device is product information you voluntarily choose to submit, which is strictly opt-in.

The data controller for this application is CaffeineLabs, an independent software development studio registered in India, operating under the brand Labelyze. The application identifier is in.caffeinelabs.labelyze.

02.Scope
This Privacy Policy applies to the Labelyze Android application and the associated website at labelyze.in. It describes what data is processed, the legal basis for any processing, where data is stored, and the rights available to users.
03.Data Collected and Processed
Labelyze is designed to function without collecting personal information. The following table summarises all data categories relevant to the application.
04.Permissions
Camera: The application requests camera access for the purpose of scanning barcodes and reading printed ingredient labels. Camera output is processed entirely on-device. No images, frames, or derived data are stored or transmitted to any external server.
No other device permissions are requested beyond those required for Android local notification scheduling and standard storage access for on-device data persistence.
05.Voluntary Product Submissions
Users may optionally submit information about products not found in the local database. When a submission is made, the following data is transmitted to CaffeineLabs servers:
- Product name and brand
- Barcode number (EAN or UPC)
- Product category
- Ingredient list as printed on the product label
- Nutritional information (optional, user-provided)
Submissions are used exclusively for the purpose of improving and expanding the Labelyze product database. No personal identifiers are collected as part of a submission. The submission mechanism is entirely opt-in and can be disabled at any time under Profile within the application.
06.Notifications
If the user enables the optional weekly summary notification, this notification is scheduled using the Android local notification scheduler. No data is sent to an external server to facilitate delivery. The notification is triggered entirely by the device's own scheduling system.
07.Google Play In-App Review
The application may present a prompt asking users to rate the app on the Google Play Store. This prompt is delivered using the Google Play In-App Review API, which is governed by Google's own privacy policy. CaffeineLabs does not receive, store, or process any data as part of this interaction.
08.Data Retention and Deletion
All user data generated within the application is stored exclusively on the user's device. There is no server-side account or profile associated with any user. Data is retained for as long as the application is installed. Uninstalling the application or clearing application data from device settings permanently removes all stored data.
Because CaffeineLabs does not hold personal data on its servers, there is no server-side deletion process to invoke. For product submissions (Section 5), which contain no personal identifiers, contact hello@labelyze.in with the relevant barcode if you wish to request removal.
09.Data Transfers
Labelyze does not transfer personal data across borders. The Google Play In-App Review API (Section 7) may process anonymised interaction data on Google servers outside India, governed by Google's terms of service. No personal data is involved in this interaction.
Product submission data (Section 5), which contains no personal identifiers, may be processed on servers located in India. No personal data is transferred to any third country or international organisation.
10.Children
Labelyze does not knowingly collect personal data from any individual, including minors. As no personal data is collected from any user regardless of age, no specific mechanism is required to address child data collection. The application is suitable for all age groups.
11.Security
All user-generated data is stored on-device using standard Android secure storage mechanisms. Because no personal data is transmitted to or stored on CaffeineLabs servers (other than anonymised product submissions), the risk surface for a data breach affecting personal information is negligible. CaffeineLabs implements reasonable technical and organisational measures to secure any data it does hold.
12.User Rights
Under applicable Indian data protection law and international best practice, users have the following rights:
- Right to access: You may request confirmation of whether any personal data is held about you.
- Right to erasure: You may delete all on-device data by clearing application data or uninstalling the application. No server-side personal data exists to delete.
- Right to withdraw consent: You may withdraw consent for product submissions at any time via Profile.
- Right to object: You may raise objections to any data processing by contacting us at the address in Section 1.
To exercise any of these rights, contact hello@labelyze.in. Requests will be acknowledged within 7 business days.
13.Changes to This Policy
CaffeineLabs reserves the right to update this Privacy Policy to reflect changes in the application, applicable law, or its practices. Any material changes will be published at labelyze.in/privacy with a revised Effective Date. Where changes are significant, users will be notified within the application on next launch.
